A night of Free improvised Jazz with Gail Brand, John Edwards and Steve Beresford perform BSE Outbreak in the Church.
Gail Brand born in London, 1971, Gail has been a trombonist since the age of 9.
A former student at Middlesex University and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama,
she is a commissioned composer and has performed on the international jazz and
improvising scene since the early 1990s.
Past and present collaborators include , Billy Jenkins, Mark Sanders, Morgan Guberman,
Elton Dean, Phil Minton, Pat Thomas, Lol Coxhill, Veryan Weston, Oren Marshall, Maggie Nichols,
Luc Ex and countless others.
With a growing number of acclaimed CDs under her own name,
she appears on many others and has received critical accolades for her recorded work.
Steve Beresford is an improvising musician (he plays piano and electronics). Recently he enjoyed realising Christian Marclay's 'Ephemera' for solo piano at Snape Maltings.
Internationally known as a superb free improviser on piano and electronics, Steve Beresford also composes scores for feature films and numerous TV shows and commercials. Steve has worked with hundreds of musicians, including Christian Marclay, Derek Bailey, Han Bennink, Ivor Cutler, Ray Davies, Najma Akhtar, Evan Parker, Adrian Sherwood, Otomo Yoshihide and John Zorn. In 2011 Steve performed 'Pianorama' by Christian Marclay as part of 'Curtain Call' at The Roundhouse , and recently performed 'Indeterminacy' by John Cage with comedian Stewart Lee and pianist Tania Chen.
John Edwards co-formed The Pointy Birds who worked for The Cholmondeleys and Featherstonehaughs
dance troupes and has worked with Roger Turner, Lol Coxhill, Maggie Nicols, Phil Minton amongst many others.
